Joseph's Coat Ministries, Inc. (JCM) believes that at the root of homosexual feelings there are usually unmet emotional and identification needs with the same-sex.

Some may ask, "What if one day a 'gay gene' is discovered?" If this happens, then our position will not change. We believe that God's design is for one man and one woman to be joined together in marriage.

We believe (and Scripture bears this out) that our genes have been affected in adverse ways by the fall of man in the Garden of Eden (refer to Genesis). Due to the fall of man, the world came under a curse. Everything on planet Earth was affected by the curse of sin (including our genes). Do you think it is God's will for babies to be born with birth defects? Do you think it is God's will for His little ones to suffer all their lives by crippling diseases due to birth defects? In Heaven, these things will not exist because Heaven is perfect as Eden was in the beginning.

The Word says that every good and perfect gift is from the Father of Lights above! So, if science "proves" a gay gene exists, then this will not change our position that homosexual behavior is sinful. We use the Word of God as our guiding light for right living, correction, and teaching others.

The APA (American Psychology Association) affirms there are no conclusive scientific findings concerning what causes a person to have a particular sexual orientation.

"There is no consensus among scientists about the exact reasons that an individual develops a heterosexual, bisexual, gay or lesbian orientation. Although much research has examined the possible genetic, hormonal, developmental, social, and cultural influences on sexual orientation, no findings have emerged that permit scientists to conclude that sexual orientation is determined by any particular factor or factors. Many think that nature and nurture both play complex roles; most people experience little or no sense of choice about their sexual orientation." "Sexuality" according to the APA

But [the Lord] said to me, "My grace is enough for you. When you are weak, my power is made perfect in you.”... For this reason I am happy when I have weaknesses, insults, hard times, sufferings, and all kinds of troubles for Christ. Because when I am weak, then I am truly strong. (2 Corinthians 12:9-10)
